@chinkasuyaro8983 Time for a mirror, you just described Woke. Oxford English Dictionary (OED) woke, adj.² recent use sometimes derogatory, esp. as a means of characterizing such alertness (or the political and social views stereotypically associated with it) as doctrinaire, self-righteous, or pernicious.

I'm in California, the Bracero program filled a wartime need as citizens were drafted. It was a Democrat lead initiative, not GOP Between 1942 and 1964, the U.S. government sanctioned what was termed the bracero program, an agreement between the U.S. and Mexico to bring temporary contract laborers in from the latter into the former to work on farms due to a labor shortage caused by World War II and the deportation of Mexican workers during the Great Depression. The agreement was extended at regular intervals, and in 1951 President Harry Truman signed Public Law 78 that included protections for these workers. The program was discontinued in 1964 after numerous complaints from domestic workers that the Mexican contract workers were taking jobs away from Americans. Farm Worker union Chavez was vehemently against the program.

If "asylum" is the issue, why is Mexico not safe for those who step there 1st.

"The Los Angeles Police Department recently announced a policy memorializing the right of DACA recipients to be employed as officers. It has hired 10 DACA recipients as officers in a force of 8,960 sworn officers. The department was funded for 9,300 positions, officials said." - CalMatters

@chezmoi42 Do you believe OED is biased in that way?

@pdoylemi No, there are many definitions of words, I've been reading dictionaries since before the Internet. Let me post the reference again. See the number 2? Oxford English Dictionary (OED) woke, adj.² 5. Sense(s): when a word has more than one meaning, then the different senses are numbered. For each sense, a definition is given which at the same time also functions as an explanation of its meaning. Webster fails to even give a definition. I no longer use Webster as a source, they are biased, and as AI starts using more and more transformers, we will be infected with more and more bias. I'd like to go back to microfiche reels libraries for primary sources.

@pdoylemi "Woke" is in common usage, and my comment was not in bad faith, but shows "Woke" is used pejoratively in its new meaning, as described in "Woke Religion: A Taxonomy By Michael Shellenberger and Peter Boghossian" It does exist, has been quantified by many academics, and I experience it everyday here in Southern California. I like using "Woke" as an example of meta-Marxist dialectical inversion, especially since the word originates among the disenfranchised then co-opted by a privileged elite who grift on the Marxist ideology of oppressor/oppressed theology.

@Zamochit epistemic humility, but many are smart. many know they don't know, and even know there are things they don't know they don't know.

@thomasnewton8223 Both my parents were born in East Los Angeles in the early 1920s, my grandfather had a stall in the Los Angeles Grand Central Market in the 1950s. I understand what you say, and why the polls look the way they do. The Left news media blames the Koch Brothers for stoking fears of family values and religion. I grew up in left politics, but the policies have failed, yet they continue, even doubling down here in California. I just voted.
