@skeptic_lemon That's not true. There never was a ban on Hungarian Language in Slovakia, nor Czechoslovakia . If you are sure there was, provide some source. Thus far there is no documented time where there was anything like you stated.

@gaborrab4785 Lmao. Hungarians aren't afraid not forced to declare themselves as Slovaks. What a load of nonsense.

@empat8052 Slovak was a distinct described language and culture since 11th century. Litteraly in written record. Slovak itself was a mixture of the south Slavic peoples, namely coats and the Czech people (where Czech was the majority). Akin to Slovenians.. The region of modern day Hungary used to have the Slovene culture which was the overarching culture between the two.

Not at all. The borders could even follow ethnic borders because Hungarians employed akin settlers policies to Germans... So they were scattered across the land in small islands that got bigger time to time. Eg... Transylvania. The other reason being that states need certain Geography to actually live... Like access to the Danube. So you sacrifice the ethnic boundary to actually create realistic and survivable nations.... This prevents most wars. Lastl, whilst Benes decrees are still in existence Calli them "in Force" is a stretch. Issues regarding them exist but in no specific relation to Hungarians only, nor in terms of ethic targeting given that they are used even against Slovaks or Slovak Ancestry. But no... There are no progroms for Hungarians in Slovakia... And Hungarians could have left Ukraine just as anyone else. Ethnic Hungarians can not leave Ukraine now if they are men of fighting age because their Ukrainian Citizenship supersedes their ethnicity. They are not thrown into war... They simply are conscripted just as any other men.

Sometimes I wonder what Hungary would look like if it was less... Magyar. It is a given fact that modern hungarian peoples are barely related to Magyars that came to the region. This is due to Magyars being incredibly small group. Powerful group... But small. They spread their kanguage, cutoms, traditions ext ext... But not their genetics as much. They wer basically the overlords. But like Franks in France, where most French aren't Frankish. The language did adopt some slavicizms... But not that much. I simply wonder how magyars would be today, if their fate was more like that of Bulgars who eventually Slavicised to the point that thwir language entered the slavic branches than the old bulgar ones.
