@AmericanRepublic1783 not really Anglophone as Anglophone nations didn't even exist at the time. No US, no Australia, No Canada. The only English speaking country he was liking was ... Britain. He admired Germanic nations more, Saxony, the Duch, Prussia and then the Baltic nations Livonia and Kurland.

@AmericanRepublic1783 yeah but the "west" of them was also not unified in no way. All he introduced was the basics of science which achieved the best things Russia was ever known for. He did not actually hinder Russian culture nor the language all that much. Bringing in principles whilst working with the given context is what made Russia hit a golden age. So perhaps apart from some fashion mishaps likely because there was not that many strong women, the whole region prospered more, developed more and boomed all whilst making the culture and it's heritage boom more. Honestly, there was far more "wester" influence from the Romans / Byzantines that influenced the Rus people's more in terms of culture than Peter, who generally refined it and added supporting principles where as the Baptism of Rus caused many many social, cultural changes without affecting the principles (eg morality, hygiene and such) much.
