  2. Agreed that they overlooked it massively. Soany people are so easy yo claim one issue.... When it's alway a mix of issues. Climate change didn't help it. Lot warmer and drier with more extreme weather events like the mentioned droughts. But deforestation is what helped to get rode the dry land as nothing is holding it together, it doesn't cool it with shade and it doesn't hold moisture inside of it . Hence they have a full on climate crisis a bit earlier than most of us and hence it is a desert now.
