@reachcole514 Assuming he meant straight on talk like between 2 people and not a more metaphorical talk such as being pushed to it by the feeling of doing it.... when one stops and has a conversation with themselves to sort out and to find out what they truly want or feel like they want to do with heavy criticism of their own thought yet, in the end, they arrive on a way or a thing they were truly told by faith, heart or God (call it what you must) to do so. So yes, he could have been told by God.

@shakey2023 The beauty of Hinduism is that you can have a belief in a certain god while it does not interfere with believe of a different kind of god of your neighbour. Many such Gods, like in Roman pantheon, merge but many remain separate and thus they have many many Gods. If I remember correctly there is a belief within Hinduism that every person has God like a guardian angel to keep them company.
