  1. The chip ecosystem is dependent on American and Dutch technology and software. China will have to develop its own while economically falling and demographically collapsing. If they can do it in ten years it would be amazing.

  15. China can make some kinds of chips. The question is - can they meet the required demand? It takes 6 to 9 months for a significant change in production mix. If there are not enough fabs it can take 2 to 3 years. Me? I design. I'm starting to worry about a shortage of "glue" chips. They are very low end. And essential.

  31. The corruption problem short circuits all this. Plus slavishly following orders. You need the mindset. Authoritarian systems tend to produce conformity. Which is a more stable system until it no longer conforms to reality.
