Taking on other's work is a problem if you also have to take their methods.

@Kim-sq9gp Hardware engineers (dealing with real world issues) tend conservative. I believe that is a data point. A preference for what works is very useful. In all endeavors.

I started studying computer science intensively in 1975 when hardly anyone knew it. Hardware and software. Self taught. VERY rewarding. And FUN!!!

@Kim-sq9gp It is simpler than that. What engineers create HAS to work. The easiest and best way to handle that (says experience) is to do what works and has been tested and then applied to your specific case. New methods are reserved for the hardest parts of problems. Because they are risky. It is a risk avoidance strategy. As is conservatism. In the next 50 years a LOT of societies will be collapsing. Such eras tend to be very conservative.

@Kim-sq9gp I celebrate electricity and indoor plumbing. All conservative endeavors. As is shelter and transportation. Conservatives say to have lots of children - China used to say - have one. Who has the better argument? China is collapsing from its grand new idea. If you look closely you will see "Feminism" was created by women who had been abused in childhood. Thus the man hatred and continuous anger (PTSD). Feminism is in the process of being destroyed by biology. It doesn't match what most women WANT, desperately. People with PTSD shouldn't be making policy. Except PTSD creates a drive for power and control. We are stuck with them. But it is wise to avoid being too adventurous.
