  13. Work for "Historical Russia". Russia has been a blessing to every country it ever held. It is why they are all clamoring to join the Federation. Poland got a great deal when Germany and Russia divided it to start WW2. Half the country got to be part of Russia without even asking. After the war all of Poland got similar treatment.

  15.  @postumus77  We know how badly the Russian Empire ("Historical Russia") needs Crimea. I expect it will change hands sometime in the spring. The American Empire has declared the destruction of the Russian Empire (War Crimes Trials). I believe it will be accomplished. Leaving the Chinese Communist Empire without friends. It is too early for China to start the war (Economics) and also nearly too late (Demographics). I personally look forward to the final destruction of the Soviet Empire. The "Historical Russia" Putin is always on about. And I will repeat. If Russia is so confident why not attack NATO directly?

  16.  @postumus77  Watch the old movie "The Mouse That Roared" to see why the American Empire works so well. Countries that JOIN do very well economically. And you know, there are countries currently BEGGING to join. Begging for American bases. Russia requires coercion. That is ultimately more expensive and is all they can afford. It is also a remnant of the old Russian Imperial mindset. The American Imperial mindset is not something seen before in the world. No other previous Empire could afford it.

  17.  @postumus77  Nothing I'm aware of prevents Romania from changing its alliances. They don't. That is telling. And of course Poland which is Ukraine's supply hub. They are increasing military spending and doubling the size of their Army. Perhaps they have been informed of Putin's plans for "Historical Russia". It is possible Romania has an objection to that as well.

  18.  @postumus77  I have grandparents (long gone) from Romania. I'm going to have to look into that. In any case despite that near by example Ukraine still wishes to be in the West. Poland hasn't changed its opinion. The Baltics prefer the West. So do Sweden and Finland (my wife is part Finnish).

  19.  @postumus77  I just came across an article "Romania is ready to host increased NATO troops if needed, president says" - so despite the failings of the West, Russia still is not an attractive option. Even countries doing badly in the West are not attracted to Russia. That is an indictment. Russia says it intends to destroy Ukrainian culture. The offer from the West? "Join us. You can keep your culture." Diversity is our strength. Yes the leftists have made a mockery of that. It is still true.
