  1. That is what Putin has been saying about Eastern Europe in his "Historical Russia" speeches since 2019 at least. There seems to be some misunderstanding though and evidently Ukraine is not in accord with a Soviet Reunion and are willing to fight about it. Poland, which is doubling the size of its Army, agrees with Ukraine.

  2. The Russian Empire is going away. Crimea will be just one of the breakaway provinces. Putin wasted the army he needed to keep the Federation together in Ukraine.
