  2.  @KevinLyda  Probably not. The RUSH to AE is premature. The technology is very undeveloped. Which means a lot of waste as the stuff rushed into service gets replaced.

  4.  @KevinLyda  Uh. No. For an electrical system to work the power has to be dispatchable. That means wind and solar require batteries. With batteries at current prices wind and solar are not affordable. The high peaks you report require shutting down base load generators - wasting money and the plant. I was a big proponent of wind around 2000. Then I started looking deeper. Wind electricity is low cost. Until it has to be dispatchable. In the Navy I used to run Nuclear Reactors. I know some about the grid. BTW Germany imports a LOT of electricity from Poland. Poland is Germany's backup. Very convenient for cooking the books.

  5.  @KevinLyda  How does Germany keep its lights on if there is a week with low wind and sun? It has fuel burning back ups. It needs about double the plant with AE. AE + backup. With the backup only required occasionally. Very expensive.
