  1. Economies of scale also help the required 90% backup generators. We get to build every bit of the grid power supplies twice. I see a great future for at least doubling grid capital costs.

  3.  @spoddie  Well you may need to talk to grid OPERATORS about keeping the electricity on 24/7. Alternative energy requires 90% backup. Or as another commenter (domtweed7323) in this thread has noted - a weeks worth of backup (stored hydro was his favorite). Which means doubling the generating plant (backup has to = what was backed up). Of course it is not applied on an individual project basis. But it is applied. When and where rolling blackouts must be avoided.

  6. We need enough batteries so we can store summer power for the winter. It is currently unaffordable. That means we need double the capital plant (generators) for 1X power delivery. As currently designed wind and solar are a scam.
