  1. Yes, most people in practice think about electrics as about hydraulics. Closed system where medium (electrons) runs around and does useful work. Pump = battery, power supply, hose diameter = voltage, pressure = amperage, current, viscosity = resistance, valve = switch, check valve = diode, hydraulic motor = motor, accumulator = capacitor, etc. This way of thinking will allow you to solve vast majority of electrical problems. But the reality is much much more complicated.
