It is not a bad idea at all. 👍 Britain currently doesn't have the power to create such union as an alternative to EU. But these countries should cooperate in the fields of defence, manufacturing, education etc. As a Czech I have deep distrust in the German - French dominated EU, particularly as regards defence, energy security and immigration policies. Also unfair system of agricultural subsidies and huge bureau are downsides of the EU membership. Britain has more pragmatic approach and similarly sees Russia as a threat. Eastern European countries should definitely work much closer together.

@desydukuk291 Yes, Brits are consistent in this. Germans and French are all talk about democracy and human rights when it costs nothing.

@setoki2838 That's really frightening! Berlin and the whole former Eastern Germany is an incubator of leftists, neo-marxists, communists and admirers of Russia. The only sound folk in Germany are the Bavarians. All this makes the English proposal very relevant to Eastern European counties.

The German politics is dominated by Russians and their proxies. The entire Green Party, large part of the CDU,... 👎 Germans shot themselves in the foot with Energiewende, replacing domestic nuclear plants with Russian gas. German politicians wouldn't hesitate to throw Ukrainians overboard entirely wouldn't there be string pressure from public and the US.

Exactly! Eastern European countries should work much closer together. The Baltic states, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia and Croatia all have similar agenda and geopolitical objectives. They should revive their agriculture and secure better trade deals, push together against European bureaucracy and regulations. In defence pull together with the United Kingdom and United States.

@Spectification Yes, that's very true. Russia is something like a large scale mafia state. But what I have noticed this wierd trend in Germany, particularly on the left, the self bashing "culture". People hate everything German , European, Christian, traditional and uncritically admire the opposite, no matter what it is. Russia and islam being on top.

@desydukuk291 It is only an idea and probably not very serious one. But the UK and Eastern Europe have similar interests as regards Russia.

@boudgaming5123 Yeah, that's true. Germany has it's natural resource base in Russia. So does France, but they also have Africa. Both countries are thus quite dependent on Russia and must have friendly policies towards Russia. Britain and Scandinavia don't rely on Russia so heavily so they can afford to be neutral or hostile towards Russia. The whole Eastern Europe sees Russia as an existential threat. Logically they are aligned with the US and the UK, who also see Russia as enemy. The USA has more common sense approach. Germany is home of brilliant engineers, prestigious universities and strong industry. But politically it is very immature, naive a ideologically driven. Energiewende is a prime example, only fool replaces clean domestic nuclear energy with gas imported from country with poor human rights record. Also suicidal immigration policies are a recipe for a disaster. Germany is a country where socialism has gone too far. USA has many problems with their woke "culture" on one side and backward conservatives on the other, but as whole it is very consistent country moving in the same polical direction. For that reason I will always prefer the US to Germany as a guarantee of peace in Europe.
