  1. Iran and Saudi Arabia are rivals who would both love to see themselves as the leaders of the Muslim world. Some form of armed conflict never can be ruled out. China cannot afford that because of its dependency on Middle Eastern oil, so they will do everything to maintain peace between the two countries. The USA don't want war either, but they are not dependant on Middle Eastern oil anymore. It's not life or death issue for them.
