Afghanistan was giving a refuge to Al-Quida terrorists after 9/11 and refused to extradite Osama bin Laden. The Americans had legitimate reason to go there. There was no need to stay 20 years though. Ukrainians did nothing to Russia. Russians are pure occupants.

@KF1 They are both bleeding heavily. Russia on the army and economy and Ukraine on civil infrastructure. Some kind of deal has to be reached. Now it's only a matter of time what will break first. Ukrainian towns or Russian economy.

Putin was trying to swallow Ukraine bit by bit, he got emboldened by the success in Crimea in 2014. But this time he bit more than he can swallow. Showing willingness discuss the issue is not a sign of losing the war. Both sides have to make a compromise.

Zelensky needs to show a will do negotiate in front of the world. But it would be a mistake to get any real deal at the moment. He needs let Russia bleed more and get better deal later. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

In your dreams perhaps. Russia will have to do a lot of compromising too. Have you noticed how Putin suddenly stopped talking about "denazification"? That means he is taking the Ukrainian leadership very seriously. Russians will never manage to occupy the Ukraine, not even half of it. Or to install pro-Russian puppet government. Russia has achieved very little in this war so far, except for their usual tactics of destroying civilian dwellings and infrastructure. They same in Chechnya and Syria. Tactics of burnt country. They are bunch of criminals.

Those things don't contradict each other. Even if you are winning, you still need weapons, the Russian army is far bigger in number, almost 10-fold bigger. Ukrainians are doing pretty good job of defending their country, Russia will be never able to occupy the whole territory. Not even half of it. Russia is not even able to achieve air superiority. Russian soldiers are starving around Kiev because they are cut off without supplies. They are making slow progress in the east, where they can resupply from Crimea and mainland Russia.

@AshrafAli-is4wv Russians still have their planes shot down over Ukraine. They didn't destroy all Ukrainian aircraft and air defence systems . That's not air superiority. They cannot do large raids without a risk of being shot down. They do a lot of air bombing in the east but don't do as far as to Kiev. That's all rocket fire there.

@serbia991 No it hasn't. It is a collosal failure on the Russian side. They aren't even able to achieve air superiority with uncomparably bigger air force. The column aroud Kiev has halted. Russia only controls Crimea, a strip along Belarusian border and the south east of the country. Flattening Mariupol with heavy artillery. They don't completely control the access to Black sea, don't control Odess either.
