The fact that Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Episode 04 "At the Bottom of the Gravity Well" is a near carbon copy of current events in Israel and Gaza. Just expresses why I think the world would be just so much better off if everyone was a Mobile Suit Gundam viewer. Episode builds emotion/sympathy for the "Zeons" (Palestine in this representation) then shows them later in the episode basically committing war crimes out of rage/hate/revenge, how they achieved nothing but causing the deaths of more innocent, more hatred, and more revenge, creating an endless cycle. Rather than accepting the fact they lost so long ago they'd rather drag innocent people into their own personal hell/prison that they themselves forced themselves into because they can not let the past go.

@ThisPartIsAndrew I think Gundam just does a better job Imitating LIFE. There is a reason that Gundam TV shows were puilled from Toonami's day time line ups a month after 911. It was decided Merica going to war kids are not allowed to see a TV show that shows them representation of war that isn't heavily filters by the "State." Same reason Hollywood at the time from Transformers to Battle LA went full MERICA mode as well. Everything was being made at the time to Pump Americans up for war. It's just the nature of these things.

@Zzulu2 Honestly it's "THEE" anime not "AN" anime. It's also heavily based off reality. Zeon Zun Deikun the founder of the "Zeons" is literally a representation of Karl Marx for example. Right down to the Marxist theory of the Soviet New Man (by Trotsky) renamed "Newtype" in the Gundam ie a New Type of Human Being. Yet they're also given a Fascist Veneer throughout the franchise, which is welcome because almost all Marxist and most Socialist are still in denial that Fascism is a cousin/sibling of Marxism. Gundam merges them together as one entity, and makes Zeon just represent Revolutionary Action in general and borrows from their ideologically when needed for the plot. Like the Oppressed Spacenoids vs the Oppressor Earthnoid replacing Black vs White, women vs men, or Working Class vs Capitalist, etc etc. While also making sure to spit on the face of those very ideas, showing that plenty on Earth are also poor, while many who live in space live a life of luxury. Making the whole oppressed/oppressor narrative Zeon Revolutionaries believe in relatively false. Even their view on "Newtypes" is shat on because most of the famous characters who fit that category came from Earth, not Space, the chosen birthplace of Newtypes according to Zeon idealist. Basically there is a lot of stuff to study in this "anime." That reflects "REALITY" and does so without alienating existing groups in modern society because Gundam CREATES It's own groups and plays with those groups like toy dolls in front of the viewers to explain to them serious social issues/topics. It's actually the brilliance of what you can do with fiction.

@juch3 I don't see how that's possible. Gaza and Hamas are not the Status Quo, nor is Israel the Revolutionaries in this scenario. You could maybe make that argument almost a century ago, but not at all when presented with current reality. Even then it doesn't fit at all this particular episode.

@19DESERTFOX91 If we're going by what is only in the animated series/films, then no your comment makes no sense whatsoever. Secondly I'm referring to a specific episode and the events in it, and the message the episode stands for. Which has nothing to do with the OVER ARCHING story of Gundam in it's entirety. Episode 4 of Unicorn is the Zeon Remnant episode how Zeon remnants are portrayed in Gundam is actually very comparable to the Palestine Israeli conflicts as of this very moment anyways. Thirdly, despite being a Zeon Sympathizer myself, saying "Zeon Did Nothing Wrong" oh boy... it might work as a meme for some existing regimes, but for Zeon we get to see what they did in real time, so there is no wishy washy way of sugar coating their crimes. So unlike Marxist and Nazi Apologist, you cannot just twist facts and make a convincing argument about Zeon. So the meme quote doesn't work very well for Zeon. If anything the quote is making fun of denialist in the modern context. Among Gundam fans, there isn't really any denialist. Unless they have a VERY warped sense of lore. Finally, if I do recall there was an interview with one of the producers of Mobile Suit Gundam, and yes the Palestinian Israeli conflict was one of their inspirations for the show. It isn't visible in the original TV series, but in Zeta Gundam, and later productions it's definitely there, after Tomino was given a far more free hand in production.
