@susan curtis waiting 47 years? Someone just getting their first job now, will be almost retired by then! If something can't show some benefits, people will demand better. You can't expect people to spend their whole working life waiting...

@susan curtis you can thank Thatcher for the decline. The EU didn't make us sell our utilities to the highest bidder, that was all on her!

@susancurtis1651 I don't remember many people really caring before 2016. There was the odd snarky article in the papers about some EU regulations, but I don't remember it being anything more organised than that. Why was everything so quiet if it was such a concern?

@susan curtis They went to the highest bidder. Not just EU countries - also China, India and the USA. The sellout wasn't fussy about who did the buying

@susan curtis that sounds a bit over the top to me, I just can't see everyone in Europe going along with something like that!

@susan curtis I'll be honest and admit I'm not that interested in digging up the past, unless it's useful for moving on in future We shall have to let democracy take it's course and see what the people decide in decades to come!

@susan curtis not true. The war was against Nazis, not Europeans. Very few Europeans are Nazis, and not all Nazis are European We should definitely fight Nazis, wherever they are

@susancurtis1651 I have a slightly more nuanced take. I respect everyone's right to an opinion, but if you want to present something as fact, you should be held to a much higher standard. A lot of the talk around asylum lacks evidence, and the debate is degenerating as a result 🙁

@susan curtis it's not given away, it's shared. The lone black sheep is weak, families are strong. I don't want to be the black sheep of Europe, and I am far from alone. We're organising, and supporting each other. Do you feel supported by the people you've sided with?

@susancurtis1651 I won't demand a reply, but some numbers to back that up would be nice, along with the source of the numbers Like I said, opinions are allowed, but if you want to call something a fact, hold yourself to a higher standard 🙂

@susancurtis1651 almost all UK tech was bought out by US companies, and a lot of our power generation is owned by China
