@philiphaley5414 not that it doesn't matter, but that it's credible to believe it's an oversight If you paid half the normal rate, nobody would believe you didn't notice anything odd, but you could easily miss 1k in all the large figures that are involved in property sales, especially if all your brokers and agents say everything's ok

@SlowhandGreg anyone buying or selling a house will have professional advice from the various agencies involved, even if they don't have a tax advisor for their general affairs

@SlowhandGreg to be fair, I've never bought or sold a house, but everyone I know who has, had a lot of people involved managing the legalities. Agents and advisors are a standard part of the process, aren't they?

@SlowhandGreg I did not realise it was that hands off. Basically terrifying, this is something hugely complex, that most people will do this only once, maybe a handful of times, in their life. Yet there's no guidance as standard!
