@hoxtondave9619 I could give you the detailed version with international comparisons and adjustments for inflation and all the rest, but I doubt you'd give me time of day So instead, just look at your next gas and electric bill and tell me we are doing OK. Then Google France's energy policy right now!

@liveitlarge68 Austerity didn't pay off the debt - it was an utter failure! Instead we should have been taxing where there was the capacity to so, and investing in training and infrastructure. If we had done that we'd have money to pay down debt, and have the tools to hand to recover the way France and Germany are, rather than the weak stumble the Tories are giving us

@liveitlarge68 Can you point to any example where lower corporate tax has created jobs? All it does is enable bigger executive bonuses and dividends

@liveitlarge68 Singapore is an interesting case. As you note, the state is very involved in key infrastructure, with much of it state owned, and the rest tightly regulated and managed Trying to cherry pick just the corporate tax levels from this model without also implementing the tight management of key industries will be disastrous!
