@pauldavidson1281 the only way to do that is to make everyone a worker-owner

Those areas would also take the negatives of a shortage of immigration That's just Tory policy - dump the costs and effort onto others while claiming the profits

@user-ug8wx5er1w I hope you're right, and your hospital is fully staffed, the council has everybody it needs to keep the bins collected and maintainance done You know Knightsbridge and Chelsea won't suffer a staff shortage...

One of the big quirks of economics and politics is the retired. You can be the most blue-collar worker possible while you're working, but hit pension age and overnight your financial interests become a mini version of Jacob Rees Mogg's hedge fund This is who the Tories aim a lot of policy at - retired or near-retired people who emotionally think they are working class, but want policies that push dividends to investors, as that's what their pension is

@kevanbodsworth9868 if it was just market supply and demand, nurses would be seeing massive pay rises, and the RMT wouldn't have secured wage rises everywhere except where the government has a veto on wage negotiations It's political. The idea that it's a neutral market driven process is a myth

@californiadreamin8423 if someone argues for policy that gets you a better wage and a better quality of life, do you care where they studied for their O level?

@J1mston if you're a banker, it's still an income from assets rather than production, even if those assets are shared/borrowed It's an interesting grey area 🙂
