"We want a no deal Brexit with a deal" I am seriously confused now...
34
We left, why are we expecting the EU to solve our problems?
13
@iLAGnDC The external EU border is very tightly controlled It's only internal borders that flow freely, as Dover is demonstrating!
10
Poland's referendum is all a big song and dance. They like to tease their crowd with big words about the EU, but they don't dare actually say "article 50"
8
@MrDunkycraig we shouldn't bail them out, we should buy them out (cheaply, as it is a failing company without the investment) and run it as a strategic state industry rather than having it generate profit for overseas capital
8
@iLAGnDC why would the EU care about people leaving the EU?
7
@Keith Raggett if CEOs could follow your advice on debt and modest living, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in!
7
No taxation without representation!
6
@corneliuscornia3189 we have smart and capable people, but none of them are in the Tory party!
5
@iLAGnDC yes, otherwise the country neighbouring the war gets overwhelmed Everyone agreeing to be involved is how you stop one country being overwhelmed
5
@zillafunfun1576 it's everything to do with the issue. The government claim there's no money, yet look at all these very recent examples where they had no problem finding money for their chums...
4
@iLAGnDC so, France doesn't literally track every single person on their soil, they don't have satellites watching everyone What they do have is proper checks if you want a house, or a job. Living off the grid completely is very hard So, in France, you have two realistic options - register and go through formal processes, or keep moving. We could do the same in the UK, if we were serious about it
4
I can't imagine they are too upset - they just got even more publicity!
4
@bobsmithy9024 That's just common sense negotiation. You don't set figures when you're not at the table, otherwise you're shooting yourself in the foot
4
@ScragNath why would they care about the people leaving?
4
Can't see that happening. The only reason the train companies are holding out is because the government is providing a bottomless slush fund to protect the company profits Even this government wouldn't want to do that for a strike that blocks petrol supplies. I am confident that without a bottomless money pit on the company side, a negotiated settlement would be found before strikes happen
3
At least the tree trunk wouldn't interrupt to spout nonsense!
3
The Tories should have this as their election slogan - "vote Labour and never have a Conservative government again" See what people think of that!
3
@iLAGnDC most EU nations have a much clearer idea who is settling, and who us just passing through. Maybe we should look at their systems and copy what they are doing?
3
National rail ran on a fraction of the budget that the private operators get If national rail had the money the government pumps into the private operators, it would be best in the world!
3
@hughshepherd6596 NR was given a shoestring budget, and ran a shoestring service, that's just common sense It's the increased budget that improved the railways, not the privatisation. All that adds is extra beurocracy for managing the franchises, and extra costs servicing the dividend payments
3
Can we afford to keep our dependency on natural gas bought on the international market? The costs are crippling us, and we're a captive market
2
@iLAGnDC they are passing through if they don't intend to settle in France. I am struggling at bit here, as that seemed obvious. What did I miss?
2
Being able to easily live in Spain when you retire? What's so awful about that?
2
If you drive a train in London, you can't live in Scotland Surely that's just common sense?
2
I like him, he's proud of London and promotes us every chance he gets. He's got a bit of a used car saleman vibe sometimes, but so do a lot of Londoners. It's good to see someone hustling for London in the Mayor seat
2
Pantomime season must be a nightmare for some folk here...
1
They did provide the answer, even though the question wasn't asked. Inflation is being driven by external costs on essentials. If you ask people to not eat there will be riots. Wages have to keep pace with the cost of essentials However, we do need to take money out of the system to counter inflation. Therefore, we need less dividends and bonuses paid out This counters inflation without causing painful hardship for average people
1
"I am not a thief!", says thief running off with your wallet...
1
and where's my flying car, too!
1
@nik-ev3eh where is it illegal? I have heard various people say variations of it at the Conservative conferences over the weekend
1
@rolandedwards2923 Tice has already said he's giving Lawrence Fox and Reclaim an uncontested run at Uxbridge
1
@rolandedwards2923 it's a fair point! Farage may have lost to a dolphin, but at least he stood in the election. Tice is starting to look like a bit of a backseat driver
1
@Rebellion1 we don't have that much to sell. Even if we somehow got all of it extracted and put it on the market all at once, prices would barely budge
1
As opposed to Tory MPs and corrupt deals?
1
@iLAGnDC they are passing through if they don't intend to settle in France. I am struggling at bit here, as that seemed obvious. What did I miss?
1
@cynthiamorris1874 then their claim would fail,if anyone was actually doing claim assessments...
1
@GromDarkwater NATO literally puts foreign military bases on our soil
1
@GromDarkwater if you swap 'military' for 'trade', how is the EU different?
1
@Grom Darkwater The EU is pointless? Tell that to the Cheshire Cheese company, and so many other businesses screwed by Brexit
1
@Grom Darkwater what stealth? "Ever closer union" has been in the treaties since 1957! They aren't alone, either. Mercosur in South America is aiming for regulatory and monetary alignment, as are others in Asia. This is what small and medium sized nations do to have a place in the age of superpowers. The UK is the only one going the other way!
1
@GromDarkwater I am not a quitter, I'm not going to run away and abandon my home! I will stay and push to get us back into our home superpower, where we can have the success and prosperity we deserve!
1
@craftersdelight2011 you're not going to stop them by giving them what they want
1
@craftersdelight2011 keep inviting them into the studio to talk, and debate the argument, not the tactics Attention seeking will stop if they have the chance to make their argument
1
@craftersdelight2011 would you be OK with them doing the same if the tables turn?
1
@quasicrystal5166 🤷♂️
1
@uniquevideosUk what's the difference in housing costs?
1
@uniquevideosUk point is nobody is going to choose to work in London if they can't pay the bills here! So the only way to keep a London train service is to pay London train staff a London wage. It's that or fix the London housing market, and I wouldn't know where to start on that one!
1
@user-fg5zx4gz1z who said that? The EU doesn't stop governments owning energy companies. Just ask France!
1
@warriorontheedgeoftime4224 even if you consider Blair to be a Tory, he was clearly the least worst Tory of the last 4 decades
