@Bevrinton "the nation comes first" - what does "coming first" look like? Shouldn't a winning nation be able to pay it's key workers properly?

@Bevrinton water - privatised, terrible Power - privatised, most expensive in Europe Rail - privatised, poor and still heavily subsidised NHS - heavily subcontracted to private firms. Delivering poorer results despite increasing funding as a result I feel I've missed one or two, but the pattern is clear - privatisation delivers worse results at higher cost

@trainman665 what's the difference between re-tendering a poorly performing private contract, and sacking poorly performing management in a publicly owned network?

@Bevrinton we have privatised almost everything already. Which one improved?

@Bevrinton who or what did the Tories swear allegiance to? It clearly wasn't the nation or the people!

It's nothing special, it's just getting back to normal pay after over a decade of broken austerity

@james bolem why would a Union take the side of management?

@james bolem I am all for constructive and engaged negotiation, but ultimately a union rep is not representing management interests. ...and as for the Tories, they seem determined to make the stand-off existential. I suspect the Tories have forgotten that they could be the one that falls when they make wannabe-tough statements about "never giving in while they remain in power" - the Tories may yet regret the escalation!
