I don't get the idea that there's hard friction between identity politics and class politics We all have different lived experiences, but we need class solidarity against billionaire landlords if we want to afford a decent home. We can ackowledge differences while sharing the same core material interests

@senorspicyboi if you're being ghettoed because of your skin colour, that's more than a small difference! But we can acknowledge that unfairness while standing together against the root cause of mutual problems If anything, acknowledging that some people are getting screwed harder than others builds the sort of understanding that creates solidarity

If you have a "black" sounding name, you have about a 25% chance of being picked for a job interview vs a "white" sounding name While things like this can be measured and proved, we can't pretend that society is fair, and minorities would be fine if they just pull their socks up and get on with it Lots of us are getting screwed, but some are measurably getting screwed harder

@pure1019 I think of social democracy and more radical socialism as a good cop, bad cop dynamic SocDems are the "good" cop, going to capital and saying "I know my friend radical socialism is a bit scary, but you are facing some serious charges here. Work with me on paying more tax and giving ordinary people stronger rights, and maybe I don't need to leave you alone with radical socialism..."
