  2.  @virtualal  which areas are those? I know people who grew up in Tottenham, and they weren't pushed out - they moved out because they wanted to live somewhere nicer. That's something very different to being pushed out

  6.  @joemq  isn't that just getting old, though? So many people hit a point where they want a quieter life and move out of the scrum here to go somewhere a bit quieter. Multiple neighbours from my street have done that now. It's just something people tend to do

  8. So you're saying the Daily Mail are manufacturing a problem by exaggerating a few genuine but rare cases all out if proportion, while actively ignoring stories that run counter to their chosen narrative?

  9.  @George-nv1ri  then you need a full proposal - if we don't have immigration, who's filling the job vacancies as people retire? We have more old people than young people - that's the challenge you need to answer if you want to be taken seriously on immigration

  10.  @George-nv1ri  can you get a mandate for you policies? I suspect you'll have a fight raising the retirement age, and telling people they have to carry accidental pregnancies to term sounds very authoritarian - I don't agree with that, and know I'm not alone!

  11.  @George-nv1ri  well, many (but not all) people with concerns about immigration are either retired, or close to retirement All they need to do to reduce immigration is not retire, or come out of retirement. If they do those jobs, immigration will naturally fall without any government intervention needed
