I also noticed, Americans behaving like "I pay - I rule", or "I'm the boss". Also the permanent phrase "I'm a taxpayer" is something you never hear in any other country.

Just compare this beeping of words on TV to the freedom of speach.

No pessimism causes frustration, maybe even hate. It's emergencies (like corona, or a flood) that create innovations and no ideas. You need to have optimism to ask "how do I get out of this shit". Optimism in the way "Just wait and see what happens" is negative on the other hand too.
3
Correct, but how to talk with people who see this differently, as Jay pointed out. It's like saying "I know I'm right, that's sufficient". How should one react on this "if you don't like it, leave !" phrase ?
3
Yes. And they don't want the freedom to kill or to steel, they just don't realize what they are talking about. The limited freedom is part of their daily life already.
2
But don't say F or N-words, or you become censored.

This is how observation and statistic works. If you observe a situation 50 times, and in 40 time cases it's a special behaviour, you can desribe this as "typical". It does never mean "everybody", but people are allowed to describe the "common man" or the "average american". If you take this statement as a generalization, like "every american is the average american", the fault is on your side.
2
No, it's a realist. The middle path is "there will be trouble, but I get prepared and get through". Optimism/Pessimism is about expectation - never about information. You can listen to the weather forecast - and still don't trust it. that's pessimism although you have information.

@Goldenhawk583 OK, maybe I have used the wrong term. But since democracy has no "above", it's 300 or 80 million people trying to find common rules in a way, there is anarchy=democracy, by your means. What people describe as "above" is the feeling of having no influence, in huge societies with millions of people. They cannot "feel" if they are majority or minority. We don't have sensors for that. Maybe my message was more like, any rule means restricting freedom. Even "Don't eat poison" is restricting freedom.

How do you get this idea ? USA is land of immigration and melting pot of everything, how you get the idea culture is a threat ? Military is a threat, and where people are shot, you need to go and stop it.

I think the main reason is the absence of home cooking. Of course high quality frozen meals are more expensive than cheap meals, but home cooking with fresh ingredients is definitly cheaper. Sometimes the quantities are little difficult to handle for singles, but they just cook for two, and freeze one part, or eat the same thing on two days.
1
No, it's just another way of logic. Like you have to support the economy to give jobs to people or to raise taxes. This can be considered social. Cynical is, if you solve one problem by raising another.
1
"It cannot get worse" is pure optimism, isn't it ? Only way is up.
1
But you expect people to develop, to learn, essentialy to change during 200years, don't you.

@cybilm133 Please, don't put any dressing on your cheese cake. And on salads, the dressing quadruplexes the calories if you drawn it in dressing. I often see, even if you choose healthy food, you put a creapy creamy sweety sauce on it.

Ein deutscher Wissenschaftler würde das auch schaffen. Adipös, übergewichtig oder poetischer wohlbeleibt, barock .. es gibt so viel Auswahl.

Maybe he found a statistic of german owned fast food chains. This might be correct. But 80% might be just standalone shops, Döners, Cantinas, Bistro style thing.
1
Go to places, where burgers are served on china and unwrapped in first place. There is really nothing good to say about McDonalds except it's fast and cheap. Maybe you got used to this quality, or never eaten anything better, but actually I have no idea where in Germany to get worse food. I don't say it's bad, it's just the lowest you can get.

@willbaker602 This has actually nothing to do with my comment. Are you serious about : To all Republicans, if they don't like Biden, they should leave the country. I think that's deeply Nonsense. There must be a debate and their must be critic. Unconditional blind love would be a desaster. Eternal stagnation.

There is no such thing as the "American populace". It's deeply split up, and each group is well represented in the politicians. But you are right, too much optimism can lead to inactivity. But Americans do have worries, just everybody worries about something else.
1
I agree with U.P. But what he calls "Americans" is just 3rd generation migrants, they start to mix with other influences. The big migration wave from Germany and EUrope 1850-1890 up to late 1910 kind of ended, and beginning from the 1920ies the original migrants weren't a huge group any more. Just their children and grandchildren were there.

I wouldn't consider german food especially healthy or low in calories, but the variety might be larger. Bread twice a day is really high carb, but at least it is not redundant, as bread with fries, what you eat aside with your burger meal. Especially deep fried things are rather rare in German kitchens. Or such crazy things like peanut butter with marmelade combined. What you missed a little, is the serving size, especially of soda drinks and ice cream, or even worse: the free refill.

A bad copy does not really harm the original. The only once fooled are the visitors of the copy, who are told it would be like Munich. It's like buying a Rolex vs. a fake Rolex. You must be aware it's a copy. People who think the fake would be an original are napped. However, better bad copies than no copies. Public relation rule #1: As long as they talk about you, it's good for the product. If they do not talk about a product, that's the nightmare. So the (unprotected) trademark Oktoberfest is kept alive. If Americans wouldn't practize bad copy of German culture, they would practize no German culture ! So what do we want ?

Laws are made to organize how people live together. My freedom is result of restricting somebody elses freedom, and vice versa.freedom is finding a balance. While maximal freedom means anarchy. German culture is very much based on " i"m willing to restrict myself for the sake of the other ". This works as long, as the other behaves the same. Mutuality is a powerful concept.

@Goldenhawk583 But there is no top-down in a democracy. Giving one of 100million a voice means, he has literally nothing to say, he cannot do anything. Or he can say something and others ignore it. When he finds 50million followers, then it will happen whatever he wants. Not before. It's a common extrem right wing topic, to talk about something like "The Elite" who governs top-down. But that's just normal people picked from 100million as spokesmen. Since 100million cannot discuss or debate with each other, they elect spokesmen (representatives). It's a technical necessity.
