That applies to everywhere, the strange thing felicia was talking about was, you have 4 different names for it. You cannot just take something cold in your mouth and eat it - first you have to research for the ingredients to know what you eat. It's icy, that's why it's ice ;-)

Don't worry, You get along with English. They use the same letters on the street signs, railway stations are packed with pictogram-Logos, and unlike USA, there are almost no traffic signs with words on it. Opening hours Mo-Fr 9-18, Sa 9-12 you can readwithout translation, don't you ? Its the same words in English and German. Just get used to the 24hour time.

they even put ice cubes in a cold drink. I think it's just life style and for decoration and not really has a purpose. Maybe they eat and drink slower ?

Maybe it's just the low demand ? In Gemany Ben and Jerrys is the most expensive Ice cream in the supermarket.

Everybody with preferences is boring. Try everyday a new one.

That's neither news nor the newest gossip ;-)

People don't even use butter any more, cause they need to "warm it up a little", before you can spread it on the bread. If you want something it should come ready to eat right from the fridge, not waiting 10 minutes.

@ryacus Or they just exchange the product. Products of 80% butter and 20%vegetable oil became very popular in the last years, and they lower the melting point of butter a little, to be soft out of the fridge. If there is a problem engeneers find solutions.

For the fruits it's most often minced, just for the processing. And yes I think the main difference is the stirring during the freezing process, that keeps it softer.

Ice is to be licked, if you want something to chew buy cheese cake.

Ice cream in beer is the most strange I have heared of. Actually root beer is completly unknown in germany and very hard to get. I had one, closest memory were cough syrup or liquorice.

But pricing is just a habit, or maybe it's the low demand, same handling on less quantity might be more expensive per quantity. The ingredients are the same, or even less in gelato, it's just stirred while freezing. It holds more air and has more volume.

yes, they make cookies or cheese cake in the ice cream, hard to find any pure ice at all.
