Sound like one thinks, any german would be the same. That's just a crazy idea.

Being sarcastic or ironic is meant to be taken seriously, but not literally. There is always some truth in it. Concerning the language, the UNO has ranked german as rank 2 of 5 in matter of ease to learn, where rank 1 is the easiest of all with english and spanish. So it's actually little harder than english, but not that much. Chinese takes longer.

This briggs guy talks like a Neo-Nazi, without realizing it. The common thing is always searching for the bad in the world. Or instead of "check the statistics" he says "ask any german" to get opinion rather than facts. Making graffiti a problem is also such a thing. Nether heard of that's a topic on any media at all. This winter: First snowflake yesterday (March 31st).

Does the term air condition include the heating ? Cause we do have heating, just no cooling... for let's say 30days a year above 24c, it's just not worth it. (Traditionally, before climate change).

@Brittjones yes, we only have these little moskitos, and of course, if you open the windows, you have to turn off all lights. And it helps if you shower before you go to bed, so they cannot smell you ;-)

You find that too in Germany, but that'sin mountain areas, fare away from the sea shore. The northern part is more like Britain, more gulf stream influence. So the north is always warmer than the south in winter, cause elevation goes constantly up.

@GermanLeftist Exaggeration is actually never sarcasm or irony. In both you would say the direct opposite of what you mean. "Learning german is as easy as whipping cream", would be ironic. Or "Learn German in 20 days" would be sarcasm - wherefore you have to know it's not possible. Both require the reader to know a lot about the topic already. Mark Twain was still providing information to the inexperienced reader. To put humor in that, is more complicated.

Well they can't move the buildings ;-) And free refills are refused, people consider it unfair, if they drink less, they want to pay less. In result, there is no habit of drinking tons of sweet sodas at all. People have a beer, if they want to drink something ;-) Also for coffee, since it's paid by the cup, it has more Starbucks quality everywhere, and Starbucks is not doing well.

I don't think taxation is very high, 19% VAT is quiet common in Europe, oil taxes are also common in Europe, and on income tax many don't know how much they pay at all, it's about 20% most often, but people sometimes add the payments for retirement, unemployment and health insurance to it, cause it's all deducted in a single step off your income.
