@urlauburlaub2222 Socialist has different meaning in English and German, or at least for US people. In German it's a difference to be social or a socialist. social (sozial) is the opposite of egoistic in German. "Gemeinsinn"/"Gemeinwohl" are unknown terms in US. While social in English means something like "party-People", beeing in contact with other people but NOT taking responsibility. Simple unemployment or retirement insurance, is already "socialst" for US people. There is absolutly no intension by any party or the population to get rid of social insurances. What US have are volounteers, but's that nothing anybody can rely on.

@mrechbreger You are just egoistic and non-solidaric. If you have a high income you pay a high rate, this is the price to finance lower rates, for people with lower income. If you made $5000 and paid $720/only $300 from those 5000. Be happy about it. If would be worse, if somebody with an income of $900 had to pay $700 and this is what people might read from your statements. If you get unemployed or on pension, your healtcare rate will lower too. This is a huge security factor. You never pay more, than you actually have. It's like with taxes. If you pay a lot, you are happy to have a high income.

You, as a patient are unable to evaluate your own priority, or the need of exams. You are biased. Kind of normal you disagree with doctors evaluation.

This is a good and detailed portrait of the german system. The public healthcare is solidaric, you pay more, if you earn more, like you do with taxes. The private system is independent from income and more like in the US. But Germany pays a lot attention to distinguish in "medical necessary" and not necessary. So something like a single room in a hospital is not really helping you getting healthy. So there are rooms with 2 or 3 beds - never seen in any US hospital. Or before doing an expensive CT Scan, the german doctors has to think twice "is this necessary, is there a cheaper way to do diagnostics", while Americans sometimes tend do over-diagnose and make as many checks as possible. So maybe with beeing 500% more expensive, they get 5-10% more quality, for those who can afford it.

Well, we have to mention, Germany is offering this only to employees and younger people. This covers 95% of all. If you have not taken this offer, it can become a brainer for you.

@Doso777 It was not about having/not having insurance, It's about the insurance causing headakes or not. A person with private insurance, above 55 has no way to get into public health, A person below 55 hast to be an employee with "not too high" income, to be able to change to public health. And if you are stuck in this insurance, you are facing rates of €1000 and more - independent from your income. They introduced a "base service" for "only 500€, but that's still a lot if you try to live from 1000€.

It's all paid by insurances and absolutly nothing is paid by the state, except this Hartz IV thing, this is tax-money. People are othen insurance holders and tax payers, and mix up who "the state" is, and who not.

Every intention to change something is "highly politicized". Wouldn't be different in Germany. Change something slightly working and you will earn protests.

@mrechbreger It's as hard to divide sick people from simulants, of course there are ghost riders. Before governements existed, this was organized by the church, you made your donations for the poor. The question "what to you get back from the poor" is inhuman. The difference to taxes is, the donation is an obligation. I never heard people, the church is scamming them. With entrepreneurs you might mix something up. They do not have a monhtly income, they cannot pay a share of their income. So they pay a fixed amount of money, also if they have no income. This is the same, as you do in USA. Same is for retirement. How much you get in USA ? $0. There is no governemental plan. From this point of view, 50% is pretty much, the idea is, to have additional insurances, In USA you have to cover 100% or as much as you want, in Germany this private insurance should cover maybe 10-50%, or as much as you want. So 50% is base security, and more than nothing, isn't it. I'm an entrepeneur. I have nothing, and I'm unable to compute "50%" of my last income, cause it fluctuates from year to year anyway. On year 30K one year 80K. You don't adapt your Lifestyle to the 80K.

@Politik-mit-Kopf .. und nicht einschätzen kannst, ob das früh genug ist, oder ob andere vielleicht dringendere Probleme haben. Wenn beim Bäcker vor dir 6 Mann anstehen, ärgerst Du dich auch dass Du lange warten muss. Und wenn dann noch einer reinkommt und sagt "Ich hab's eilig, lasst mich mal vor". dann ist das Verständnis nur gering, wenn Du dessen story nicht kennst. DIe hohe Auslastung von CT geräten ist ein Garant dafür, dass die so "billig" sind. Man könnte eventuell Termine nachts um 3 einführen, wenn man das noch verbessern wollte. Wenn Fälle unregelmäßig kommen, dann ist Warteschlangenbildung normal, die Entscheidung wann man wegen Warteschlangen die Kapazitäten erhöht ist schwierig. Denn Leerlauf darf auch nicht entstehen. Es darf nicht andersrum passieren, das man Leute nur scannt, damit die Geräte ausgelastet sind. Das ist zum Teil in den USA der Fall.

Don't always say "for free" if you mean "tax-financed". People must develop more understanding what they pay their taxes for, to pay them "with joy".
