  1. There is no common "resignation". Just a few people are upset and make a lot of noise around their emotions. Even in the largest economic boom, they would find something to complain, and deny to realize the optimistic mood of others. Just as you. "Employers don't find anybody to hire" means "Employees find jobs easily, don't have to afraid of loosing a job" .... how can they be depressed ? It's hard to get rid of this complaining mindset.

  2.  @cailwi9  I considered it synonym to the great depression of 1929 and didn't really understand, what difference you tried to explain. Loosing a job and feeling hopeless is the very same thing. Is there a great wave of people quitting their jobs themselve in USA, to find something better ? You kind of assume everybody knows what's going on in USA, and you just refer to this knowledge.

  4. I think Americans travel more, I recently heard of one flying to college, east to west coast. It's just not international. Imagine Germany as New York State, some beaches, some skiing resorts; but mainly people leave the 'state' for vacation, visits and business. Within 5 hours drive by car I could reach 5 different European countries.
