  1. There has been really lot's of propaganda in the 50ies, stating communism means attacking America. Germans are smart enough to distinguish the utopic visionairy idea, from the reality, it has some disadvantages. Disadvantages, but not dangers. However, it will never come true, but we can keep some ideas. The base is very close to American charity, it's just turning "give, if you like" into "give, if you are able to give ... and we find out if you are able or not."

  6. I had to google for summer sausage. We would rather call it smoked, dried or just Salami-Style, although that's the Italian term. On the other hand, beef jerk is rather unknown (except in switzerland).

  7. Maybe it was temporary, but this would be very unusual. Never saw such an advice. Maybe in rural areas, in a mountain hut, with no connection to public water system.

  12.  @Svea_LifeGuards  I had to google it. It's from 1950, not related to DDR, and could be applied to the Russians just the same. I'm glad they replaced the Nazi governement for some time without "conquering" Germany, what would be normal after a lost war. Now we have a united independent german state and everything is fine. Visitors welcome.

  14. This must be a sit-in restaurant, never saw selling mashed potatoes sold in a drive-through. And actually I don't trust your description, cause many reports say, people eat fast food 3 times a day, the 1.99$ special or junk like that, ending up in obesity problems. You may talk about the 20% wealthy people meeting in the country club. And you proof, the only needed cooking divice is the grill.

  15. The distances are your only excuse. People in El Paso don't have a strong connection to Austin, to fill an hourly train, there will be a hourly flight to NYC. But local traffic, like with trams and metros could be improved inside the cities.

IT's actually the Americans starting with their "don't say the N-word" that swapped over to Germany, now peope are insecure what is allowed and what isn't. The idea, black people could be German is still pretty new. People simply have to get used to this idea.

  19. The Grand Canyon is considered world heritage. Actually nobody relates this to Arizona. It's in Western USA. We care for the individual states, as much as American care for the 16 German states.
