And that is any advantage for anybody ? People unable to talk to each other, or having an extra effort, is always a handicap.

It's like living in a country, having 110V and 220V outlets in the same house wildly mixed. Nothing is "easier". Variety isn't always a surplus. Easy communication is a basic feature of a society. If everyone is bilingual anyway, you can drop one language. It's as simple as this. It's also a basic democracy principle, to let the majority decide. When people from central africa or the arabic world move to Canada, none of them say "learn our language, it's an enrichment for you".

No you don't. You stay poor cause you cannot bundle the ressources of the entire country, deals and contracts are more complicated than in countries with just one language etc. Finally, what's missing is the feeling of identity, of beeing one society and belonging together.

@Jagar_Tharn You haven't asked much people, you cannot speak for everybody and you make thinks up. Videos aren't categorized by nations. And we are doing good if we learn from others. A billingual country means, you have to support speakers of each language, it does not mean every citizen has to speak all languages. And that's becoming more clear - as in case of India, or Switzerland; you have to support 4 and more languages.
