Interesting that they do this this way here. The way our k9 unit works, is the actual officer raises the dog from it being a puppy to adulthood, taking them home around themselves and their family, participating in any and all training exercises with the dogs. My cousin who works in the k9 unit says that they do it this way because when the dog is retired, it's safer to take the dog home and live the rest of it's life out as a loved family pet because they've already established a lasting unbreakable bond with that officer and their family if they have one, and also that it keeps their aggression levels at a manageable place where the dog doesn't just become an attacking machine. Different places, different views, different methods I guess 🤷🏼♀️

That's kinda sad that you sell them after they're done with the shows. By then they probably see y'all as family, and have done everything to please you, but then they just get sent away. That's just how it seems from the way it was explained here 😕

@workingdog2954 I see, thank you for that information. So I guess it all boils down to what that department chooses as far as training goes? I always find it interesting the different methods people design and decide to settle on as far as dog training goes, and the beliefs behind choosing one method over another, but as long as the dog is capable of living the rest of it's life out in a peaceful loving environment after all it's hard work and service has come to an end, I find no issue with either method 🙂.

@torchlightk9127 that's really wonderful to hear. Thank you for taking the time to have a conversation with me about this, and providing me with information that the video didn't get a chance to touch on, it was very enlightening. Just because this way of training differs from the way my personal police department trains, doesn't mean the actual care put in does, both are making sure the health and stability of the dogs are priority, and that's always good to hear being a dog lover myself. I own pitbulls, so I know how training and consistency in that and treatment in general towards them is so important to maintain in dogs like these, and your team seems to be working very hard to make sure all these bases are covered, for that I must thank you as well, along with your team. ❤️

The largest male lion on record is 827lbs, so it is possible. On average they weigh around 420lbs, and those are overweight because of the contraceptives their own, so I definitely wouldn't put it past them to weigh around 600lbs.

Isn't it kind of stupid to keep giving the gator "roommates" after it attacks the first one?

Can someone please explain to me the debate going on in the comment section about what these dogs are? Many call them pitbulls others say they're mixed breeds? Is there a such thing as a pitbull at all?

@masonhollander5149 wow, that was a big boy lol. The page I looked at didn't list him on the documented weights for some reason 🤔🤷🏼♀️

Quit playing favorites and tell us the name of the fourth one lol, he hardly got any screen time lol.

This is absolutely wonderful, thank y'all so much for your efforts in correcting the issues this breed faces. They can be amazing dogs if treated properly, and this breed particularly needs our help. They're image has been tarnished by ignorant and malicious owners, and this needs to be changed. They deserve the same amount of happiness and stability as any other dog.

@xndrxde I'm pretty sure all breeds of mastiff have good reputations as fierce guard dogs if trained properly. A lot of them were bred for that very reason, that and to help with labor work.

@Ricks2Cents oh I know. I've seen some that literally look like they're the size of a pony lol. It sounds like yours is going to be a really big boy too. I'd love to have a mastiff one day. They can be amazing family pets and protectors if trained right.

Have to admit the title is misleading though, glad you said something or I would've thought the same thing with😂, so for that I thank you lol

@SamStrayWood as far as personal preference goes, I do prefer the method my cousin's department uses as well, just because of the way I personally view dogs in general. I'm sure there's a lot we don't see in this video though, and I get the feeling from talking with these people, that they do have a genuine concern and caring instinct for their dogs. Hopefully they are being allowed to have some free time away from their cage and training, just time to be a dog ya know? My gut tells me they probably do do this, just because these dogs often do end up being homed by the officers they get assigned to.

@Mr-zd5uh what does he call them? Just curious
1
@Mr-zd5uh it does call them pitbulls in the description, that's why I'm curious about what he really calls them

How do you know for sure what breeds are mixed in? Genuinely curious, I don't really support this guy either, so please don't think I'm trying to start an argument, I literally just clicked on this to see if anyone else was questioning him. You can just look at his dogs ears and see he doesn't know what he's doing.
