  1. It's not specifically the act of getting the photo taken that's cruel, it's being complicit in a system of abuse. I don't think that necessarily makes someone evil. But to know the reality of the situation and still decide that your kids getting a photo with a bear is more important than the bear's wellbeing... now we're getting into evil territory. All of us are unwittingly complicit in a fair few horrific systems everyday. It's incredibly hard to go through life otherwise, unfortunately. So we need to do our best to be aware and considerate of the impact our actions have, and try to reduce the harm dealt as much as possible.
