You're not exactly wrong. All the wealth keeps getting skimmed off by those at the top.

@taffyterrier You've got your eyes closed if you think those striking are anywhere near the top. Try the City of London instead.

@taffyterrier I don't understand this argument that because some people aren't on strike, no-one should be. I guess NHS staff have got more guts to stand up to our corrupt government.

Circumstances change. Cost of living crisis?

@kennwan9917 If it affects everyone, why not have empathy for each other? Because you've been brainwashed to turn on anyone speaking out. Because that's easier than standing up yourself. How does it reflect on us working folk that we ain't got it in us to demand more from the buffoons in charge but we'll sling mud at those who do just because they went to uni? It reflects poorly and reinforces the very stereotypes that politicians like our current rabble rely on for spreading division.

@kennwan9917 Like I said, you've been duped into setting yourself against them by people who pay themselves ridiculous sums, grant themselves pay rises, steal tax funds and take us for fools. All this and more, yet you decide medical staff are the problem...
1
@kennwan9917 You didn't say that and I never asserted that you did. You oughta read my comment again with more care. The irony is you've done the exact thing you just accused me of. My point, which seemed pretty clear, is that you're having a go at medical staff striking for more pay citing various reasons that are far more apt when applied to our political class. But rather than be angry at the architects of our situation, you're telling workers to sit down and accept their lot.
1
@kennwan9917 They're the reasons you cited. That's why I said "you're having a go [...] citing various reasons". So if you've already forgotten what those reasons were, read your OWN comment again with more care.

@roops2939 There's definite similarities. We don't have any significant natural resource exports though. Maybe if we did, we might be a little better off...
1
@roops2939 Yes and my point was that we don't fit the criteria for a banana republic. So we don't quite feel, are run like or look like a banana republic. Plus, ironically, if we were a banana republic, we might have a slightly better chance of digging ourselves out of this hole.
1
@roops2939 I feel like, at this point, you're just parroting a term that you've heard. You should look up the criteria for a banana republic. As I alluded to earlier, exploitable natural exports are a HUGE part of it - hence the name BANANA republic - and we just don't have that.
1
@taffyterrier Which was swiftly negated by huge increases to cost of living.
