@harrycallahan1 But you had a world in which to work for it.
1
@harrycallahan1 And we're talking about future generations so looking out the window now is a bit missing the point, don't you think?
1
@harrycallahan1 Tell me, do you budget your finances? Do you plan your shopping? Do you ever look at weather forecasts before planning an outing? No, of course you don't. You live in the here-and-now, so considering future challenges in order to be prepared to meet them... that's not something you'd do. And FYI, I don't like avocados. You wouldn't have made that erroneous assumption if you were living in the here-and-now, instead of speculating about the there-and-then.
1
@harrycallahan1 I don't believe in sky fairies or calls for complacency. And I hate bananas. Taste, texture, smell... ergh. Apples are nice.
1
Stoic, I'd imagine. What, you thought they didn't know what the consequences would be? Then you're stupider than they are.
1
What solutions are you pursuing?
1
Where'd you hear that?
1
It's not that simple. Let's say country A produces a third of the industrial pollution as country B. Looking pretty straightforward, yeah? But country A also outsources 70% of its manufacturing to country B. In addition to this, country A also has half the population. Suddenly country A isn't looking so clean. This is just a hypothetical, but the principle within helps give a much more complete and nuanced understanding of the problem.

@catleugh They're saying, quite clearly, that your harsh attitude might come back to bite you if/when you find yourself standing up for something important to you.
1
@catleugh Compared to what, suggesting there's a language barrier impeding your understanding?
1
@catleugh Doesn't that say a lot about you...
1
@catleugh It wasn't a question.
1
Do the words "massively" and "accelerated" mean anything to you?
1
And where are most of our goods made?
1
@silver4831 Because its very hypocritical to outsource the vast bulk of your manufacturing to another country, then claim you've reduced emissions while blaming the country emitting on your behalf.
1
@silver4831 You seem to have stopped reading after six words.
1
It's not over-population, it's over-consumption. If it was purely population based, you'd see a direct correlation between population and pollution.
1
@harrycallahan1 But is there direct correlation? If what you're saying is true, then somewhere with a higher population will always have higher emissions than somewhere with a lower population. And the data simply does not support that. All humans consume but some consume much more than others. Does the couple living in a small one-bedroom flat, who don't own a telly or a car, consume as much as the couple who live in a three bedroom townhouse, have a telly in every room and own two cars?
1
The whole "we need more CO2 to stop plants dying" is such a lazy, obvious lie. Couldn't you come up with something better?
1
@harrycallahan1 Got any evidence to support that?
1
What does "do your own research" involve for you?
1
@xXScarhandXx And what conclusion has that led you to?
