Yeah, it blows my mind how childish some people get about showing others some basic respect.

@defendliberty1289 No, I wouldn't say that's true, but it is something that we've evolved a better sense of as time goes on and boundaries get broken down. The 20th century was more of a revolutionary time, in that regard, with developments like Women's Suffrage in some parts of the world.

@defendliberty1289 I disagree. The regressive attitudes I see are those actively railing against any form of progression.

@defendliberty1289 Yes but the people throwing the toys out of the pram and acting like children are those resisting change.

@defendliberty1289 Explain to me how advocating for equity of human rights and respect takes us back to the middle ages?

@defendliberty1289 By your logic, slander should be legal then. Would you agree with that? More than that, your argument boils down to "I'm okay with this, so everyone else should be". But... what happened to the human right to speak freely? You've built your stance around a contradiction. I disagree with your first point too, liberal democracy in practice has shown itself unconcerned with equality of opportunity. Quite the opposite. Otherwise it would be working to eliminate class divides and allow everyone the same opportunity, rather than reinforcing them. You also betray a hole in your education by the way you are keen to single out communism as "the murderous regimes" of the 20th century. Have you looked at the whole picture and seen how other murderous regimes subscribed to different political ideologies? Wait till you see how many people have been murdered in the name of capitalism...
