Let's assume that it is correct. What's the problem? We have various politicians and public figures who make a big deal out of "benefit scroungers" but the reality is that any such people who live that way is NOT a drain on our economy. Why not? Because they spend the money. They go out and buy whatever, booze and fags if you believe the stereotype. Well, then they're supporting their local economy and spending the money on highly taxable goods. What we really want to be concerned about is the money that gets squirreled away and hoarded, where it accumulates interest that affects inflation, where those who own it go to lengths to avoid ever having to pay tax on it.

@natenae8635 When did he say that he either likes or pities her?

@ramrajah5460 We know well how politicians get the positions they hold. It's nothing to do with experience or talent. We know it comes about as a result of who's backing who, who's making shady deals for support... so why do you lie for them?

@ramrajah5460 It can get worse and we have a lot to lose. We can't wait a year, we need someone who's gonna start delivering now. The Tories have been in power for 12 years and this particular government has been in since 2019. They've got no more excuses.

@ramrajah5460 I'm not making a mistake. You don't seem to understand quite how UK politics works, which is fine but does mean you're not in a position to speak authoritatively on it. We look at the party because that's what we get. The individual, the leader, doesn't make as much of a difference as you suggest. If you don't believe me, look at Tory leadership since 2016. And no, Sunak has NOT proven himself worthy. Remember, he was the chancellor all through Johnson's cabinet. Much of the problems we face are of Sunak's making. So no, you'll forgive us if some of us are a bit short of patience with our political class and maybe you'll think twice when telling us we're mistaken.

@ramrajah5460 You just sound like some propaganda bot. Can't take you seriously at this point.
1
@ramrajah5460 Putting together a naff proverb is easy enough. Doesn't make it true. You're sat there blindly singing Sunak's praises, while refusing to address the fact that he's responsible for the problem he's claiming he'll fix. So don't go telling other people they're being blind to reality.

Not really an apt comparison, though, is it? The issue here is that Braverman has been reappointed.

Yes, ignore all of the very clear bad signs and just focus on his neat hair.

@MFa25-t1q Not as much as you might think. A lot of working class people get stuck with temp or zero-hour contracts, so they weren't covered. And a lot worked in essential roles, ensuring that lorries full of food, medical equipment and other goods kept moving up and down the country.

@ramrajah5460 Sunak was born in Southampton. His ancestry is Indian but he's not.

@MrGiorgioud Looking at who's gonna take over in Italy, I think they're in a lot more trouble than we are.
