@Alpha-ev5xf How in any way would a religious political party unite the country? Clearly you don't know much about UK culture.

@tjmarx Wage rises don't have to mean inflation. Maybe, just maybe, the people at the heads of these companies making such profits could recognise that they could live comfortably on far, far less than they pay themselves. They could curb their own wage and increase the wages of their employees, the people who make them these profits in the first place, so that they have a workforce who can afford to live.

@167mm167 For many of us, England is our home. You don't jump ship just like that. If you love your home, you'll fight for it.

@gregrodgers107 You can't "sack off" the concept of government. And Blair's mistakes were over a decade ago. Since then, we've had over a decade of being dragged down by Tories, to stand there and say "yeah, but Labour are worse" when the perpetrators of that fiasco are long gone is just... dumb.

@englishsteve1465 Yeah, in many respects we're at the mercy of corporations telling us this is just the way it is. But it's not the way it has to be. We've more or less accepted it for a few generations now because we have warm and dry homes, relatively affordable "little luxuries" and food on the shelves. But now a lot of people are facing a cold winter without heat, many are having having to cut back to the bare basics and even then the supermarket shelves are starting to go unfilled... I hope corporate interests are taking this seriously because if people are pushed too far they may decide that the massive social upheaval is worth it.

@Alpha-ev5xf Oh yeah, because religion is all about raising people up, right?

@gregrodgers107 Labour aren't a good alternative, true. But to say they're more useless than Tories, after 12 years of increasingly incompetent Tories, seems pretty disingenuous.

@SDW3-6-9 No. Not even remotely.

@SDW3-6-9 That's a lovely fantasy you've fabricated for yourself. Shame it doesn’t really hold any water. For a start, neither of those things even have a dogma...

@167mm167 Maybe. Difficult for corporations to lobby and curry favour with government if they don't have time to soften them up before a new person comes in.
