  22.  @jsd354  The message didn't sound positive to me. It sounded more like a threat to anyone they didn't consider to be "on their team", so I can't see how the party is inviting everyone in. They're making it quite clear that there's a lot of people they won't accept. The whole thing about their god seemed very bizarre too. Separation of church and state is a thing for a good reason.

And how you interpret the idea of "god" is irrelevant because the speakers at this rally don't share your personal religious beliefs; they are espousing Christian supremacy. If you aren't taking that on board, then you're not making a fair assessment of what they're saying, you're just hearing what you want to hear. Also, separation of church and state isn't a metaphor. Of all the ways you could describe the concept and its execution in the US, a metaphor is not one of them. All of this is to say that simply giving your personal interpretation, based on pretty flimsy reasoning, does not show the reporting as being disingenuous because your view is subjective. You might have found it uplifting AND all the comments made in the report can also be true.
