@richardallan2767 Right, that's broadly the answer I expected. So I think it's better to say that we've been in a golden age but that age is fast ending and we're actually in a transition period right now. I feel like the others chap's comment of "actually, we're in a golden age right now" is very misleading, intentionally or otherwise, and helps the people in denial.

Two things. Firstly, Snowpiercer is just a film. It's fiction. Secondly, have you even SEEN the film? It made things much, much worse.

@Realisticautism The natural shifts in climate have been thrown out of whack by human industry. The speed with which its changing means that many other species, vital links in the ecosystem such as pollinators, are disappearing. And last time there were a lot less people more spread out. Now, we're facing the prospect of conflict as resources get increasingly more scarce. So no, it's not just like last time.

@richardallan2767 Yes but compared to what? The world is a lot older than humanity so its a very vague standard to hold up.

@prophetsnake That's what OP said. We think it's bad now but it's only gonna escalate if we're not acting to mitigate. Honestly, I think we're past the point of stemming the collapse but we can help ourselves get through it.
