@JamesSmith-qs4hx A fraction of a percent? A percent of what? That's not how CO2 levels are measured. Someone's told you porkies, I'm afraid.

You should know that John Christy works for both the George C. Marshall Institute and the Heartland Institute. The latter is particularly concerning, this was the libertarian "think-tank" engaged by tobacco industry lobbyists to produce "evidence" that smoking wasn't bad for your health. They've proven that they'll say anything to make some money and it looks like they're well in the pocket of fossil fuel companies.
4
I know you're being sarcastic about cars and jets burning fossil fuels back in 1848 but you are aware of the industrial revolution, right?
3
@sinthariasinestra9777 What do Jewish people have to do with this? Sounds like you're switching your own narrative from climate change denial to anti-semitism.
3
@sinthariasinestra9777 Nope, it's because anthropogenic warming is global and results in climate change. But some people couldn't get their head around that concept so scientists had to try and simplify it for them.

@cindya9572 Who's talking about eliminating CO2? Too much CO2 is also bad, just like too much oxygen is also bad. And the rate at which human activity pumps excess CO2 into the atmosphere is creating problems.
2
Anthropogenic warming resulting in climate change. It's not that complicated.
2
@kmoses582 Yes, and it was even lower before the industrial revolution. Since then its almost doubled.
1
Global warming will lead to climate change. They're the exact same issue.
1
@AdrianBobeica This freak storm is nothing to do with climate? Oh... oh buddy...
1
@ScottCleve33 What do you consider a more reasonable answer?
1
@ScottCleve33 How do the sun, moon and the ever changing distance provide answers for the extreme climate shift we're seeing?
1
@ScottCleve33 How much does a solar flare warm the planet by and how sustained is said warming?
1
@Truth is Harsh How can the earth "police" itself and balance the huge amounts of pollution we put out?
1
@cindya9572 Net zero OUTPUT. Meaning we aren't contributing excess CO2. Please don't try and condescend to people until you've taken the time yourself to understand what it actually is that you're arguing against.
1
@kmoses582 Because it takes a lot longer for me, not a climate scientist, to go through their claims, check other sources and put together the argument that challenges their claims. Or I could look at the fact they're working for fossil fuel lobbyists and apply critical thinking to their contrarian claims. Both are doable but one allows me to do other things with my day.
1
@kmoses582 My argument is that Christy is in the pocket of the fossil fuel industry. It's a really straightforward argument and you've ducked it repeatedly.
1
@kmoses582 You're also ignorant on climate and weather. So what? We can't all be experts so we have to turn to those who are on this topic. And you're trying to convince people to listen to the guy who's working for fossil fuel companies which is incredibly shady and an obvious grift. The "original" argument you're trying to shift to isn't a good argument. What's the point, that you don't think trends in weather patterns prove anything? So yeah, I'd rather focus time and attention on the more obvious issue of your guy being a corporate shill. And save us wasting time debating the merits of his corporate shill work.
1
@kmoses582 Because if you weren't ignorant, you wouldn't be here asking dumb questions. You'd know stuff. But you don't, so you are. And climate scientists have been trying to get our attention on this issue for over 30 years, so...

@thesmallnotesduo You sure you're the authority on this one?
1
@thesmallnotesduo The climate scientist who isn't actually, uses a pseudonym, had to retract his piece claiming arctic ice wasn't receding and spoke at CPAC in 2017 when he claimed that coal was beautiful, clean and put out no visible pollution? That Tony Heller?
1
@thesmallnotesduo Didn't retract his comments about coal, though, did he? Is that also 'cos he's a good, rational scientist? Or change the fact that none of his qualifications are in climate science...
1
@thesmallnotesduo Often, mostly or always? Which one is it? Only one of those three can be true. And again, you're just glossing past the bit where he doesn't even seem to understand what coal is. Yet you want to take that person's view on pollutant levels and effects seriously? At best, he's a paid shill for the fossil fuel industry. Other explanations are that he's a moron.
