+Bret Ryan Of course it did. And after they stopped filming, the crew kicked it's corpse around before eating it's flesh raw. Then the aliens came back and fucked everyone in the ear. Don't suppose you'd be interested in buying some crushed unicorn horn?

+That Weird Ninja (Rockster2112) Dude... Go and add "context" to your vocabulary. Many words have more than one meaning depending on the context. The context is what informs us as to which meaning is intended. The context for this video tells us that they are talking specifically about extra-terrestrial aliens. The section where they discuss Cloverfield makes it clear that WatchMojo erred in their research (again). Well done for knowing that alien has a deeper meaning than just UFOs and tentacles but you've picked the wrong moment to try and show off your knowledge. And to multiple people in this comment thread... When it comes to fiction it doesn't really matter if you think the set-up is believable or not. Abrams stated that the monster is of this planet and always has been. Just because that seems ridiculous to you does not mean that's not how the movie canon goes. It's a shit film anyway but you can't tell the writer that they're wrong and you're right just because it makes more sense to you.

***** Native terrestrial and it's on a WatchMojo list. I honestly don't know why I ever click on their videos, they do such little research into their lists it's painful how much they get wrong.

Jexorz86 Barely relevant to this discussion but thank you for sharing a well known hypothesis.

Jexorz86 Whether it makes sense to someone isn't what matters, that just contributes to whether it's a well written plot (it's not). As much as I dislike Abrams' work I must respect his own decisions when it comes to his writing, although much of that film makes no sense I can't rewrite his canon origin for Clover because it's not my creation.

Jexorz86 No guess. JJ Abrams himself has stated, as others here have already said, that Clover was a terrestrial creature hibernating deep in the sea. Just because it came from the ocean does not make it a sea creature, it's true. What does make it so is the writer stating it to be canon. Which he did. Lynxcat1 No, it's not a meteorite. It's a satellite which supposedly woke and angered Clover. THAT is what Abrams said. I don't know where you heard that he said it was an alien but it's not. Go look it up, I promise you that's the case.

Yavor Kapitanov JJ Abrams, who wrote the story, has confirmed that Clover IS of Earth. It did not come here from another planet, no more than we did.

Yavor Kapitanov Keep your bollocks out of your mouth, chap. Whether human life originated on Earth or came here via a comet or whatever has NOT been the crux of this argument whatsoever and certainly not the point that I've been arguing. Don't try and give me some pithy insult about understanding when you can't even comprehend what's been said by who. Do you want me to walk you through the various angles in this discussion so you can actually keep up or would you rather make rash statements so you can look like an even bigger fool?

Jexorz86 I made that comparison because of the well known hypothesis... Thought that would be clear. I'm also missing the bit where I've apparently insulted you. I insulted the other guy, who was also being insulting. I was just condescending to you. Partly 'cos you stated the obvious but also 'cos you consistently missed my point earlier. I suppose being condescending is basically insulting. But then again you resorted to comment that was a confused blend of sexism and nonsense. I mean, "insults like a preteen girl"? Really?

There was nothing scary about the aliens in Signs. How were they in any way threatening? They have no edge over us, especially on our home turf given that they're lethally allergic to a substance that is integral to nearly everything on this planet. If that film had gone on for another five minutes it would have had the same ending as War of the Worlds.
