@hyperquantum3020 Do I? So many people who go round gobbing off about how "proud to be British" they are, argue in favour of a cultural identity almost as alien to me as Mongolian culture is. I'm English, born and bred, but the culture I was raised in is clearly very different to the culture someone like, say, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon or Nigel Farage were raised in. So explain that one with your weak and vaguely defined nonsense.

@birchthebirch4593 That's not even close to an answer. And just so you know, King Arthur is a work of fiction. Might be why it's not seen as worth teaching at primary or secondary level. But hey, if you want to focus your studies on mythology... All I'm getting from this is that you have a very, VERY narrow view of what English culture is and it's based on concepts and traits that are less than a hundred years old.

You're pointing to a brief period in the 40s, which was very different to the generations preceeding it and very different to the ones that followed. Really making me question your claim about being a student of history, since you should know this. It's not really anything to be English beyond what we each make it. To say otherwise just means you've only recently left your safe little bubble.

My point was pretty clear; "British" culture has changed many, many times over the centuries. It varies greatly by region and by class. It cannot be defined so neatly, like you tried to with your example from one little pub in the 40s. And its funny you claim to not be clear on what my point was, since you've certainly changed your angle to try and compensate.

@Ambander1 Erm, no. She was of Macedonian ancestry. The Ptolemy family had been in Egypt somewhere near to 300 years by the time of Cleopatra. If you look at modern Greeks, it's not as clear cut as black and white. It's a real transitional point between Europe and the Middle East. There are many, many, many Greek people who would certainly not be considered "white". That's always going to have been the case. And that's today. You're telling me that Egyptian-born Macedonians from over 2,000 years ago were white? Okay then...

What they found is that many Europeans had a common ancestor with Tut. Just like we do with Charlemagne or Ghenghis Khan.
