Such an insightful comment.

Leaving the EU didn't help much either did it?
8
🙄 Shouldn't you be watching GBNews?
8
Even now I can still hear Clive James introducing her. 😀
7
Quite a few bizarre and ranting comments on an old 70's cooking clip 🙄
6
I remember Magpie but I preferred The Tomorrow People 😀
5
Yeah, 2001's a bit late...
5
🙄 yawn
5
You are joking, yes?

🙄

I went to a very posh grammar school at the same time as you michael. The teachers at my school were equally fucking awful. They seemed to think of us "pupils" as burdens. Wanna hug? Need a hug? Well, you're getting one anyway. HUG

When I left Woolwich college (now a university 🙄) my dad found me playing video games with my mates in the local record shop and told me "Tomorrow you start work at the London Borough of Greenwich Computer Unit." So I did. My dad was a safety officer for Thames Water at the time and to this day I've no idea how that all came about. For some strange reason I never actually asked him.

So bored with these bloody Mary Berry vids. There was more to the 70's than Mary Berry. 🙄

@JJONNYREPP Sleep well Michael

I was a punk and right into Crass and all that sort of thing in the early 80s. Was very matey with all the Conflict lot cos they lived a bus ride away but was also very good mates with all our local skins and soulies (casuals) too. We were all just out to get pissed and have a good time. Some people liked one sort of fashion/music and other people liked other stuff. And everyone I knew was cool with that. I sort of miss that these days. All the kids look the same now, heads down zombiefied by their phones.

Michael Palin is always going on about this place in his early biographies.

Alan Coren looked old even then! I remember having to do an art project at my snottily posh grammar school for the Silver Jubilee. I took a moulded chocolate mousse tub, filled it with putty, painted it silver and stuck a fifty pence piece on the top and called it a paperweight. It was awful. When I had to present it the putty hadn't set so it was fairly wobbly. A case of look but don't touch. My art teacher thought it was a masterpiece and awarded me 10+. I'm sure it would be worth, oh at least 50p today.

What a great interview. Tom Baker really is a one-off.
3
What a ludicrous comment. Just be honest and say you don't like black people.
3
@mancunianinlondon 🙄
3
Someone at Thames TV YT channel really has a thing about Mary Berry. Or maybe Judith Chalmers.
3
I like her.
3
I've had some great times at Notting Hill Carnival and I totally agree with you mate. There will always be dodgy people at any big crowd event.

1:15 Doesn't everybody have Seville oranges in their freezer to make marmalade by the whole fruit method later on?

I didn't bother voting in the last General Election. What was the point? Politicians don't care about ordinary people, it's all about power and making money for themselves.
3
"I would have stayed there."

All the police in my part of London have more tattoos than Maori warriors.

I watched a Gogglebox episode a week or so ago where they were all moaning and outraged about a news report that French Fries were now more popular than chip shop chips. A few days later I got home too late to be bothered to cook so I thought I'd give the new chippy that had opened up just near us a go. OMFG they were the worst chips I've ever had. It was like they were about three days old. They were disgusting. The cod roe was nice though 😉 But not the chips!

@JJONNYREPP Oh finally. Muted.

It's weird how that "tribalism" has vanished now isn't it? I was a Crass type punk but we got on well with the local skins in our part of SE London who were totally non-racist. But yeah.....knocking into some other, non-local skins was always a bit of a worry.

The last time I had a turntable was around 2002 and that was Technics too mate. I've still got about 1000+ vinyl albums. I had a flyer through my door a while back offering to buy them, but I just can't let them go! 😉
2
I'm a Londoner and I never have or ever will vote Conservative.
2
@raijinenel3116 Away to GB News with ya!
2
Yeah, both of them.
2
@noelmcauliffe Tracey Herbert. That sounds so made up mate! Ours was Jackie Stokes. She was ok though. My school had every sort of person you could imagine and we all got on ok.
2
@noelmcauliffe Sourf East London for me 😉 Jackie Stokes came to a school disco one time with so much hair lacquer in her past-the-shoulder length wavy blonde hair that her hair didn't move when she turned her head.
2
I think she used Fanta.
2
"had she lived she may have looked like her in her later years"

0:00 I know that Woolwich cinema. It was the one on the huge junction just near the Woolwich ferry. It's where my dad took me to see Star Wars when it was originally released (and many years later an amazing Hawkwind gig!) Now it's some sort of hallewoowah church.

Back in the early 70's dad would always drive us down to Spain through France. I definitely remember stopping off at Sitges but I also have this vague sort of memory of us staying at one hotel for 2 or 3 nights and then doing an early runner and not paying the bill! Dad's sadly dead now and mum's like "oh....I don't remember that." I do
2
I love this comment Steve. You should be so proud of yourself👍😀

My first job was with Greenwich councils Computer Unit in 1981 and I still remember the screen of my comp had a green film stuck on the screen to make it look, in the words of my boss, "It's green! Not white". He got fired shortly afterwards and I had to spend hours word processing (that's how long ago this was) his long and rambling "Why I shouldn't be fired but I hate you all" letter of resignation. He was fired but just had to have a go back.
2
@SparkyStevens1967 🙄
2
That weird looking side-by-side tandem bike was a winner...in someone's mind.
2
I used to love my school dinners back then too hazel. They were nice. When they changed to those cafeteria style chips and donuts muck was when Thatcher farmed out school dinners to the lowest bidders.
