@davidholmes892 Natural sugar found (mostly) in fruit is fine in limited amounts, as they also contain other nutrients such as fiber, Vitamin C, minerals, etc. Yes, glucose (sugar) is essential in our brain and throughout our body in order to function properly, as it's our cells' main source for energy. I think that's the type of sugar you meant ... there are no reputable studies saying we need more processed/added sugar for better brain function!

@davidholmes892 FALSE. Our body does NOT need sugar in order to survive. Healthy carbs in moderation - or very limited depending upon your diet - can be necessary to some; but not most.

"You give time to what you believe is important". If you eat food, this is a topic of priority EVERYONE should take the time for ...

@Jonathan Pol NO! Brown rice syrup is just sugar in a different form. Xylitol in very limited amounts are okay, but this is a sugar alcohol.

INCREDIBLE interview! Even though I was short on time, Dr. Lustig's slow, clear and concise knowledge and information drew me in. One topic I felt he was not very clear on: YOGURT. I understand we need to stay away from the sweetened varieties and opt for the unsweetened, but it seems as though the subject of Yogurt was not quite finished. Also he mentioned VEGAN MEATS and didn't say whether they were "bad" or "good". VEGAN MEAT is typically one of the most processed things around - not to mention GMO-laden, so his answer should have been an absolute "NO".

This may be a hereditary trait and not necessarily an indication of a health condition. Ex: people of the mediterranean culture
