  1. Alcoholism per se is not inherited. What is inherited is temperament and metabolic issues, namely, how you metabolize alcohol. People absolutely do not inherit behavior patterns of drinking booze. I know it's common for people to think it is, and the idea is used so people won't beat themselves up. The main thing is if you drink too much is that you can stop.
