Jack stands and a hundred dollar scan tool, but I 100% agree on the stick never being removed.

@emiliog.4432 Yeah, but that's for the 5% of people who do not know what they're doing! No need to punish everyone else who actually knows how to work on their vehicles. It's a ridiculous choice.

That old fluid looked pretty good for being as old as it was. It's gonna be interesting to see if the tranny survived being 4 quarts low!

@MrNorthstar50 still a wise decision to buy the Toyota specific Lauch scan tool. You can check everything on your Toyota with a good scan tool! You go right ahead and use the jumper wire, I'll plug my scan tool into the OBD port and watch the transmission temperature just as he did in this video! You can also customize your Toyota's settings, do bidirectional testing, check and clear any codes, check your ATF thermal degradation value, change out tpms sensors and all sorts of other things you'd normally have to pay a garage to do.

@HeyManny69 yes, you wait until the transmission temperature gets between 95° and 114° then get out of the car and pull the fluid level plug, and then wait until the stream of fluid coming out gets down to a trickle. Then you put the plug back in and snug it down, and your fluid level should be perfect.

@null046 you do not need a lift. The transmission drain plug is only a few feet away from the side of the car. Just do exactly what AMD did in this video, he loosened the leveling plug just enough to where it wouldn't drain. Let the transmission get up to temp, then get out and pull the leveling plug. Let the excess fluid drain until it becomes a light trickle, then put the leveling plug back in and tighten. Yes, jack stands make this easier, but it can be done without jacking the car up in most if not all models.

@null046 Yeah, I was just saying it all can be done on the driveway, as long as everything is flat.
