@joshmanis9860 are you blind, did you watch the video? You put the life of an engine on the shoulders of a single bearing and this bearing is in a component that is guaranteed to fail within 200k miles. Then they bury this component inside of the timing system, where it is not easily accessible, genius! It's people like you that Ford has in mind when creating these horrible designs.

@AgentLokVokun it's a horrible design! You have the entire timing system running off a part that is guaranteed to fail before 200k miles! Also, that component is buried behind the timing cover! You're putting the life of your engine on the shoulders of one single bearing. The stresses created by the timing system will 100% cause that bearing to fail. When it does, well we all just witnessed what happens. I suggest you read down through the comments and look at all the technicians telling their horror stories.

"Let's bury the water pump in a place that'll destroy the engine when it fails, and lets run the entire timing system off of that water pump!" - Ford bean counters. Thanks again Eric for another great engine murder-mystery!

@joshmanis9860 look through the comments and you'll see countless mechanics talking about this horrible design. People like you, referring to people who think because you''ve not yet had an issue, it makes the educated real world experience of actual professional mechanics null and void! Anyone who cannot see the design flaw here is either extremely naive or intentionally blind. You are putting all the stresses created by the timing system onto the back of ONE BEARING! A bearing that is on a component that will 100% fail before 200k miles. It's people like you that have zero mechanical experience in the topic at hand, that think because yours is OK, everyone else must be wrong. You are the ones who will be forced to purchase a new car before your old car reaches 200k miles. You are their target consumer/sucker. Not only that, the bearing we are talking is buried behind the timing cover. All Ford had to do was use a external water pump, driven by the belt, and all of this could have been avoided.

@BobbyOfEarth irrelevant, strawman arguments are useless and pathetic. We are talking about Fords horrible design.
