It's a timing "cover" there's no need to skimp.

@ritzoriginal dude a little extra sealant hurts absolutely nothing on a timing cover, especially on an engine that is going to set for a week before any fluids are added to it. Tell us you've never changed a timing chain without actually telling us you've never changed a timing chain! Your ass probably doesn't even own a 10mm socket lol! Dude, it's not your fault that your dad left!

@timradde4328 exactly and even if there was a bit extra, what's a tiny bit of sealant going to harm, it's not going to travel through the engine. The engine is going to set for at least a week before any fluids are added to it!

@nickgiesler3438 first off dullard, there wasn't excess sealant, secondly, the sealant is going to have ample time to set up. You effing youtube master are what's ruining the world! I guarantee that you have never changed a timing chain in your life! If you had, you would know that there was no excess sealant applied to that cover! The bead of sealant was in the middle of the mating surface, run along junior, the adults are talking.

@ritzoriginal look down through the hundreds of comments and ask yourself why you dullards are the only ones worried about the bead of sealant! Everyone else watched the sealant being applied and yet you masters are the only people saying anything? You prove one thing, youtube masters are as dumb as a bag of hammers!

@ritzoriginal ok genius, show the rest of us idiots where you saw excess sealant coming out of the timing cover mating surface as he torqued it down? He applied the sealant perfectly on the center of the mating surface! So if there was no excess sealant coming out from the outside, there's none on the inside! Show us the excess sealant or drop your pathetic armchair criticism, the sealant was applied perfectly!

@ritzoriginal sure pal, enjoy your armchair quarterbacking! It's people like you who make talking in comment sections a horrible experience! Pathetic youtube masters ruin comment threads for everyone else! We all know that you've never worked on another person's car in your life, yet here you are, criticizing actual professionals!

@nickgiesler3438 dude, it's still wet and on the valve cover surface, you know the surface that gets covered by the valve covers?? If you knew what you were talking about or paid attention at all, you would have seen him intentionally putting that dab there and on the other side because that's where the two mating surfaces come together under the valve covers?? Wtf are you even talking about?
1
@ritzoriginal still waiting on the time stamp chump? Dude, there is no debris, wtf are you talking about? Show us where the excess sealant got pushed out from the application of the timing cover?
1
@ritzoriginal basic math lol, you think that your "basic math skills" outweigh this mans years of experience tearing apart and rebuilding engines, hilarious! Your "basic math" comment, especially when talking about applying a bead of sealent to a timing cover, lets us all know exactly how much you know about what you're talking about, or being a mechanic in general, nothing!
