Bakhmut is a distraction and a death funnel. it's meant to grind the enemy down while distracting the enemy forces reducing the chance of Russia re-organizing and repositioning men to other parts of the lines. it also prevents Russia from getting a propaganda win. all the defenders need to do is hold out until the mid April.
